Current status

Anker's eufy brand announced the Robot Lawn Mower S2 Max at IFA 2026 in Berlin on 3 September 2026. It is a production product with an announced launch month and an announced European price, not a concept piece. What does not exist yet is a dedicated eufy product page for it: eufy's mower pages still cover only the E15 and E18, so the detail available today comes from the announcement and from journalists who saw the machine at the show.

That means the headline capabilities are clear, while the numbers buyers usually compare — battery, runtime, cutting width, cutting height, weight, warranty — have not been published at all.

Wire-free, RTK-free camera navigation

The S2 Max navigates with vSLAM: onboard cameras build a three-dimensional map of the property as the mower moves, so there is no perimeter wire to bury and no RTK base station to mount with a clear view of the sky. For a property of this size that is a meaningful install difference — wire installation on several acres is a serious job, and RTK setups depend on where you can physically place an antenna.

It also shifts the risk. Vision systems depend on what the cameras can see, which is why the trade-offs in our explainer on RTK versus LiDAR and vision navigation matter more here than on a satellite-guided machine. eufy has not published how many cameras the S2 Max uses or where they sit.

All-wheel drive and slope capability

The S2 Max is all-wheel drive and eufy rates it for slopes up to 80%. The Verge converts that gradient to roughly 38 degrees. Either way it is at the top of what consumer robot mowers currently claim, and as with every slope rating it assumes decent traction rather than a wet bank after rain.

The dual-blade cutting system

eufy describes a dual-blade deck. Two cutting discs is the usual approach for covering ground quickly on large lawns, and it is consistent with a machine rated for 3.7 acres. Cutting width and cutting-height range have not been published, so there is no way to compare its swathe against current large-lawn mowers yet, and we are not going to estimate either figure.

The extendable edge-trimming arm

The headline feature is an arm that extends from the side of the mower to trim the edges of the lawn — the strip along driveways, walls and flower beds that a fixed deck cannot reach, and the reason most robot mower owners still walk the perimeter with a string trimmer. eufy is not alone in attacking this: built-in edgers have appeared across several 2026 announcements, including Mammotion's own new machine.

What has not been confirmed is whether the arm is standard equipment on every S2 Max or a separately configured part, how close to a hard edge it actually cuts, or how it handles fences and uneven borders. Those are exactly the questions that need a shipping machine to answer.

On-device AI and the 48 TOPS processor

eufy states the S2 Max carries a 48 TOPS processor for local AI. In principle that is a lot of on-machine compute for interpreting camera data — recognising obstacles, planning paths, and avoiding the pointless re-mapping that frustrates owners of weaker systems. In practice a processor specification tells you the ceiling, not the result. eufy has not published an obstacle-recognition list, a category count, or how the system behaves in low light, so there is nothing here to evaluate yet.

Mapping and app: what is known, and what is not

Confirmed: the mower builds a 3D map of the yard from its cameras, without a wire or an RTK station. That is the whole of what has been stated about mapping.

Not confirmed: how many maps or zones it supports, whether boundaries can be edited by hand, how no-go zones are set, per-zone scheduling and cutting settings, the app's full feature list, smart-home integrations, and any theft-deterrent or GPS-tracking features. eufy's existing mowers offer app mapping and tracking features, but we are not going to carry those specifications across to a different machine.

How the S2 Max compares to eufy's E15 and E18

This is not an incremental update to eufy's current range — it is a different class of machine. eufy's shipping mowers are the E15 and E18, both wire-free and RTK-free vision mowers aimed at ordinary suburban lawns. eufy recommends the E15 for lawns under roughly 800 m² (about 0.2 acre) and the E18 for larger lawns, with the E18 listed at up to 0.3 acre (13,000 sq ft) and specified for flat lawns with a slope limit under 18 degrees.

The S2 Max is rated for up to 3.7 acres and slopes up to 80%, adds all-wheel drive and an edge-trimming arm, and launches at a price far above the E-series. If you have a normal back garden, the S2 Max is not the replacement for an E15 — it is aimed at properties the E-series was never meant to touch.

Release date and European pricing

eufy announced a May 2027 launch at an announced European launch price of €3,999. The exact release day within that month has not been given. That euro figure is the European launch price only — it is not a US price, and converting it into one would be guesswork, so we are not doing that.

US availability

No US launch has been officially announced. eufy has published a European launch month and a European price, and nothing about the United States.

Gizmodo reports that there is no planned US release for now, and discusses US regulatory restrictions affecting foreign-made robotic devices as a factor in whether the machine reaches American buyers. That is reporting from Gizmodo rather than a statement from eufy, and it describes the situation today rather than a permanent outcome.
